CAREPARTNER SUPPORT GROUPS
Serving as a partner and caregiver, during a health crisis or chronic illness, is a noble, honorable and magnificent act of love. It can also be relentless, isolating, and sometimes scary to have so much responsibility. At our carepartner-specific meetings, those who also know and live this experience offer guidance on how to navigate what you are going through, how to best to care for your loved one, and also take care of yourself. Here, you can relax and converse with understanding and compassionate friends.
It can be helpful to speak with the support group facilitator to verify a meeting is occurring and to get a sense of their group’s focus prior to attending for the first time. Questions you may want to ask include:
-
Should the individual I care for attend with me?
-
What have some of your recent discussion topics been?
-
Are there social activities?
If there is no carepartner support group in your area, and you are interested in working with PANC to start and facilitate one, please contact Sharon here. We can assist you in starting and running your group.
