You are concerned about outliving your resources. Tax-Wise Giving: Donating Stock A gift of stock may provide more benefits than a cash gift. When you make a gift of stock to the PANC, by eliminating the capital gains tax that would be due upon selling the stock, you receive tangible tax-savings and benefits while also supporting the humanitarian mission. A gift of stock may be right for you if: 1. You are holding stocks that have risen in value. If your stocks are highly appreciated, you may find yourself with a hefty tax bill when it comes time to sell. By using these securities as a gift, you can avoid the capital gains tax on any paper profit. 2. You would like to maximize your deduction while not affecting your liquidity. If you decide to make a gift of stock, you not only retain your cash assets, but you also receive a charitable tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock that you’ve owned for more than one year. Your gift of appreciated stock to the Parkinson Association of Northern California helps ensure that no one faces life’s darkest moments alone. We couldn’t be where we’re needed most without the support from people like you. DAF: Donor Advised Funds Consider donating to PANC from your donor-advised fund. Work directly with your sponsoring organization Please make checks payable to: Parkinson Association of Northern California 1024 Iron Point Rd #1046 Folsom CA 95630 Qualified Charitable Distribution from Your IRA Satisfy your required minimum distribution while helping those in need. What is a qualified charitable distribution? A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) is a distribution of funds from your IRA (other than a SEP or SIMPLE IRA) directly to a qualified charitable organization, such as PANC. Because the gift goes directly to the charity without passing through your hands, the dollar amount of the gift may be excluded from your taxable income up to a maximum of $100,000 annually, with some exceptions. Please consult your tax advisor for information regarding your specific exceptions. To learn more about QCDs, please visit IRS.gov » Who can make a qualified charitable distribution? QCDs can be made by IRA owners who are age 70 1/2 or older. QCDs made prior to the age you are required to take a minimum distribution from your retirement assets (pre-Required Minimum Distribution QCDs) will not reduce or otherwise impact future Required Minimum Distribution. Your tax advisor can provide additional information on your situation. Many individuals who are required to take money from their IRA but do not need it for living expenses have chosen to make QCDs from their IRAs to support the work of the PANC. This may make sense for you too! To learn more about eligibility, please visit IRS.gov » How do I make a qualified charitable distribution to the Parkinson Association of Northern California (PANC)? Your QCD must be made directly from your IRA custodian to PANC on your behalf. Each financial institution has its own process for initiating a qualified charitable distribution. Many retirement plan administrators require you to use their distribution forms and comply with other requirements, so follow your financial institution’s forms and procedures to ensure you receive any potential tax benefits associated with this gift. ABOUT US "Don't count the days, make the days count." - Muhammad Ali ¿QUÉ ES LA ENFERMEDAD DE PARKINSON?
